Why So Many Sad Clowns?
The challenge theme this week at Inspiration Avenue is
There are so many images that remind us of the circus...
I don't know why, but the circus makes me think of clowns.
And then I wonder why so many clowns are sad.
Are they just worn out from cheering everybody up all day?
Do they hate their jobs?
Do they hate their jobs?
It must be exhausting to be a clown.
A sad clown is better than a scary clown ~ we won't even go there!
So I set out to make a mixed media clown.
With no real thought of whether she would be happy or sad,
darned if she didn't turn out sad!
At least she has her trusty companion, the clownish cat.
Who is none too happy today either.
But if you put a ruffle around its neck and hold it like a baby,
it will only stay cheerful for so long. After that, pffftt!
Head over to Inspiration Avenue Sunday afternoon to see
all of the circus entries. There are sure to be some fanciful ones!
This is so beautiful! I love everything about it. The colors are fabulous, love her hair in pig tails! How awesome is that! And the clown kitty is too cute.ReplyDelete
I don't know why some clowns are sad either. I do like them better though.
I think you should make prints and sell them, or at least a card!ReplyDelete
Oh yes, I agree with Peggy. This is fab-u-lous!ReplyDelete
Maggie this is very beautiful - I love the softness in your work. I'm curious as to whether there was a reason you included the chess board, as I always associate that pattern with the circus for some reason, but I thought it was just me!ReplyDelete
Thank you all so much! I'm having so much fun rediscovering the joys of creating pictures!ReplyDelete
Angie, I think the checkerboard reminds me of a harlequin pattern. I associate it with the circus too!
Your picture is supremo and creates so many stories in my mind.It really makes you use your imagination!
I love that.
I love this piece....And that you included and orange kitty who is wearing a clown collar! That really appealed to me. I have two orange Kitties. Their names are Jack and Jitter. They keep me laughing, for sure.....Fun piece!!!ReplyDelete
FUN!!! But, I have to say that I think your clown is more pensive than sad......and the cat? My favorite part of this one- he's awesome!ReplyDelete
Oh Maggie! I love her! You did such a fantastic job on this. Just awesome!ReplyDelete
