Being practical, I always say:

But if you crave something “substantial”
(my mother's term which I always took to mean something she liked but I didn't :), 
  these dainty sandwiches are not to be missed!

are tinting the garden with a golden glow.

Anyone for Tea?

Inspiration Avenue's challenge topic this week is 

Teapots

Shelly, our host, brings us this soothing theme!

This is a postcard I made during our postcard swap,

but it turned out to be an extra.

I don't think I've posted it before, and I thought it would be the 

perfect time to do so, with a teapot hanging over our girl’s head like that.

But what a crazy girl anyway, you could say she likes to live on the edge.

However, she does know when it's time to relax with a calming cup of tea!

 Washi Tape

Oh my gosh . . . I am obsessed with making washi tape!

If you haven't seen washi tape, HERE is a link.

Washi tape can be purchased, 

but  it's so much fun (and easy + cheap) to make your own!

 Just a few I made today. I haven't used them for anything yet, 

because I can't stop making them. lol.

It's just masking tape decorated in any way you wish.**

Here is where I wish I could make a tutorial, because the above sentence

is not very informative. I will have to work on that. But on the bright side,

there are loads of tutorials already on YouTube showing great ideas for

creating washi tapes.

I have in mind to do some more postcards, and I might use a bit

(okay. More than a bit. More like a load. lol)

of washi tape in the creation of such. Just kidding.

I will restrain myself.

**I have been using masking tape, which is not acid-free or archival

or anything like that. What would be better is some sort of tape,

(artist's tape or drafting tape) which is labeled acid-free or pH neutral.

That way, you can protect your project from deterioration :)

So it does go from being practically free to costing a bit more,

but worth it in the long run!

I had the brainstorm this morning to add a 
sheet of digital washi tape to my Etsy shop. 
Print until your printer cries "Uncle" and your heart is content!
Of course you will have to purchase the un-watermarked file, 
but 4 bucks, not so bad ~ you can print hundreds of times if you like :)

My digital shop has been neglected for so long.
If people like these tapes, I have ideas for lots more :)

Inspiration Avenue Weekly Challenge

Tea Party

Well, I've set a new record for myself in being late

with the weekly challenge at Inspiration Avenue.

Never been THIS late before...but finally here I am.

No excuses, but I will just say I was running hideously late already,

and then spilled a huge vat of paint water all over the

newly refinished floor in my art room...

which flowed behind and underneath a heavy storage unit, 

which had to be emptied out, 

and moved with help from my son, 

and all the icky water cleaned up.

Ugh. And I'm sure everyone is waiting anxiously

at Inspiration Avenue to see the week's entries

for Tea Time, since I am the host this week.

So no more wordiness, but I will hastily get over there

and post the entries. I've seen them all,

and each one is fabulous!

(I could surely use a cup of tea right about now :)

I have to admit I was stumped by my own challenge.

Even though I'm a coffee drinker,

when I found an image of a posh lady

pouring tea I knew I had to enter a digital piece.

I gave her some Marie hair
and fancied her up with color.  

I think she'd better sit down

before she has an accident with that tray. . .

Coffee or Tea?

My aunt gave me this little pouch many years ago.

I do like the sentiment on it, except lately I've been substituting 

a good strong cup of coffee for the tea.

Today I decided to take time and have a little cuppa tea.

Don't the English say it is just the thing for any situation that comes up?

I've been enjoying the way the garden is springing to life.

The bleeding heart comes and goes so quickly.

By early summer there will be nothing left of it.

The viburnum is ready to burst into bloom...

It's right beside the patio and starting to give some shade.

 Well, that was relaxing, but  I'm still craving my coffee.

I'm goin' out and just might stop at Starbucks!
