Doing something a little different
(for me)
I have a bunch of 4 x 4 chunky canvases
that I'd like to do some kind of a series with.
And *Faces* just popped into my head.
Not so amazing or different though, since it's what I like to
draw and paint better than anything. Okay, so it's actually predictable.
I'd like to keep the style different from my usual whimsical faces.
Easier said than done, but I'll see how it goes :)
This first one is far from finished, but I wanted to post it for
I don't want to over work it though...I'd like to achieve
a happy medium between over done and just plain messy.
It's kinda messy now.
Why is it that painting the sides of a canvas is so tedious?
Because it's boring, maybe...but I think people
like the sides to be painted, so I'll keep doing it.
Happy PPF, don't forget to visit the party!
She is adorable and pensive at the same time ~ Love it! ~thanks, namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteI love her expression and the angle you placed her in is perfect! Also, I like the messy, looser style to this. I know you like me, can easily get caught up in details, so it's actually MORE difficult to paint this way- I'd say just add highlights to her eyes, and she is DONE (just my two cents;))
ReplyDeleteIt looks to me like you're doing a great job!
ReplyDeleteGreat start - I love the 'messy' look and think a series of faces could be cool. Unless it feels like a bunch of eyes are looking at you..... :) I've often wondered about those 4" canvases and thought a block series would be cool but didn't have any inspiration......I'm still waiting for mine.
ReplyDeleteshe is a delight!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love fat canvases!!!
She is so cute, loving your latest canvas. Happy PPF, x
ReplyDeleteI really like this and the composition is really perfect. Square canvases can be tough for that, but this is so well suited to it... I would love to see a series of them... looks great happy PPF xx
ReplyDeleteShe looks perfect, I love the brush strokes and the colors. :o)
ReplyDeleteOh, so cute and sweet! I just did a photo shoot with a girl who looks a lot like this.
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun to see a whole series develop.
I like ALL your faces here in the blog, your masquerade painting is fun, too! A great project 4x4 faces...happy to be following your journey, there!
ReplyDeleteShe looks cute and reminds me of pictures from a child's storybook. I like the "messy" look she has. I often try to achieve that loose look in my paintings but seldom do.
ReplyDeleteI like her! Love the wind in her hair!
ReplyDeletebeautiful and serene.
ReplyDeleteHer expression is intriguing. I paint my sides too. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteShe has such a sweet face. I like her eyes, almost wistful. Sometimes I wrap my painting around the sides so that part of the person, like there hair or clothing lays over. It makes it less tedious...LOL! ~Happy Paint Party Friday! #10 Robin Panzer Art Studio 33
ReplyDeleteI like to paint the sides, too...and gallery wrapped is the way to go (even if it is a little pricier).
ReplyDeleteI love your girl and as much as I love faces, that's exactly what I would paint on those 4 x 4s. Can't wait to see what the next girl will look like! Have fun!!
Oh, I love her sweet face! She is so cute. I am looking forward to seeing more in your series!
