Night View
The theme at Inspiration Avenue this week is "Celestial".
Two reasons I put this together quickly:
One, I was short of time (of course)
and two, I wanted to paint something looser without
getting caught up in painstaking details.
Just let it flow, so to speak :)
So I slapped on the sky with watercolor crayons
and added the leaves in the foreground the same way.
I think the leaves would have benefitted from
some more painstaking-ness...
But, it is what it is hah.
In Photoshop I added a few more stars and the angel.
I think, all considered, it makes me want to
experiment more with some quick paintings.
It was fun, and with not a lot of time invested,
doesn't have to be "perfect".
This week the entries in the challenge are awesome!
I've seen most of them, and if you visit Inspiration Avenue
Sunday afternoon, you are in for a treat!
This is beautiful! As I read your process I thought: how did she do those stars? Photoshop - I so need to get it on my computer. The angel looks like you've collaged her under the watercolour pencils. Good to see, like me, that you enjoyed just going with the flow.
ReplyDeleteKat :-)
The title is perfect, Maggie and the art is too. I think the stars are heavenly (sorry)
ReplyDeleteI agree...it's fun to just sit back and see what happens when you give up that control of perfection. Happy Sunday my friend xox
This is so gorgeous...I feel like i am about to embark on an adventure of enchantment...so beautiful and magical..and an etheral feel to it..gorgeous as always!

I really love your piece this week. The layering and how the leaves boarder all around, makes me feel like being in a forest and looking up to the heavens. Art does come to us in different ways sometimes, yours is beautiful.
ReplyDeletelove the stars-against the dark they look like the are glowing

ReplyDeleteHere I am just now getting around to everyone's entries! I started makng the rounds on Sun but this computer sharing thing is for the birds when it comes to blog-hopping!
ReplyDeleteI love your angel through the night sky and stars! The tone you set was perfect; just sort of mysterious and still. Isn't it funny how the way something is tight or loose really changes the overall effect? Good call!
