It's Mermaid Week!
I love mermaids.
So does Lou Anne of Misplaced Mermaid,
one of our newish members at Inspiration Avenue
and author of this week's challenge. I say "newish" because
it feels like she has been with us much longer than she has
due to her enthusiasm and friendliness!
Check out her blog as well as the challenge at IA.

I'm on a postcard roll ever since our Postcard Swap at IA.
So my entry this week is of course a postcard.

I took a vintage photo of a little girl and transformed her into a mermaid.
Not just any mermaid, but a bewitching one with a magic wand.
I think she has just made a fish disappear. lol.

Some other mermaids I've done
(and most likely have posted before)
This one is sold but I have a print :)
"Bad Hair Day"

"The Butterfly Garland"
(available in my shop, as is the little witchy mermaid)

This is a merrow, you can tell by the red hat
and her webbed fingers. An Irish mermaid.
I never listed this in my shop...
Hmmm, wonder if I should?
I think I considered that she wasn't finished,
but now I'm not sure why I thought that...

Visit Inspiration Avenue on Sunday to see the Mermaid Gallery of entries.
Or pop over there now to get the info on how to enter.
There's plenty of time ~ you have til Sunday at 12 noon eastern time.

Ta ta for now.
I'll be back to show you the postcards I received in the swap
as well as the ones I sent. And a Round Robin update.
Happy Thursday!

  3. Your first mermaid is my favourite. She looks so real; it's easy to think she could swim off the postcard. The way you've blended her human bits into the fish part is seamless. And the shading makes her pop off the page. Just gorgeous.

    cheers,

  5. LOVE seeing all the mermaids you've created, I am making an altered book with a mermaid theme for a friend of mine and just loved this challenge as it fell into a niche of mine! That butter fly garland with the seahorse holding one end is my favorite, but the witchy mermaid is a darn close second! Great work! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

  11. Maggie,
Just waving and sending you wishes for your trip! Ooh I wish I was going to California. We went 3 years ago to Newport and Laguna Beach and we have wanted to go back again ever since then. It was such a short trip, but we enjoyed every minute of it. If you are like me, I never take enough and I always leave something. On this trip, I purposely left out my camera so I would not forget it, and that's the one thing that I left! I had to buy disposables and one that had my best pictures on it, I dropped off the pier into the ocean! I took all that to mean that maybe one day we would be back! LOL

I just left a post for Priti and you were right above me...I was excited to hear about my journal. Don't worry if you don't get it in the mail on time. I am sure no one will mind. I am finishing up mine as well.

    Have a great trip!!
