The Sketchbook Project
I'm frantically trying to get my sketchbook completed
by the deadline of January 31.
Okay, not "frantically" or I would be finished by now. lol.
The one thing that does not make much of an appearance
in my sketchbook is sketching. I've always hated my sketches...
maybe I should take a drawing class.
The theme given to me by the Sketchbook People
(okay that's a lie, I did choose it myself)
is "Encyclopedia of..."
and for the life of me I can't figure out what my book is an encyclopedia of.
There seem to be a lot of trees, clothing, and some elves and fairies.
How on earth are these related?
I would like to do the cover in something clever
relating to my theme but . . . maybe the word is "hodgepodge".
A word I don't like at all.
So, enough of my problems. If anyone has a suggestion
about how these things are related, I would be grateful to know!
In the meantime, I am posting this for Paint Party Friday.
I hope you will visit the wonderful entries that are posted there!
Have a happy weekend!
How about Encyclopedia of My Art ? Just a thought ~ Love your artwork and style ~namaste, carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF ~
ReplyDeleteMaybe something related to roots? I see a lot of trees here- find a synonym for encyclopedia? I don't know, but I DO know that this is a GORGEOUS collection! When we do the traveling sketchbooks again, I hope you'll join us! :D

Well, I'll tell you what popped in my mind - an encyclopedia of story!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the fairies living int he roots of the tree.
All of your work is incredible but I was particulary drawn into the painting of the fairies at the root of the tree. I too love your style!
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie! I love what you've done with the place. It looks Magical and Charming so one of those words might be what I would use for your Encyclopedia. The world where Magic happens. Or our Charming World ?? Your artwork is always so adorable. I love it. There's definitely a children's book illustrator in you. Children would be captivated by your artwork. I know I am.
ReplyDeleteI hope 2012 is a Magical year for you and you art! Hugs to you sweet friend.

I'm not a fan of hodgepodge eith... but love the word ephemera... but I do like the encyclopaedia idea... this is like an encyclopaedic of memories or dreams to me... so many images could relate to childhood and family and things..... there are some really beautiful pages here...xx
ReplyDeleteHow about 'Encyclopedia of my heart"? You've created a magical place here in these pages, and it seems that the words and images reveal the inner you. They're so beautiful. Who cares about sketching?!
