Invent the Future

Inspiration Avenue

and a new challenge this fall from Artists in Blogland:

Headline Prompt: Inventing the Future

Color Prompt: Warm colors (reds, oranges, pinks, yellows)

Quote Prompt:
“The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

I combined the headline and the quote to come up with a phrase I liked.
“One day at a time invents the future.”
It's so true. Especially when you look back and think of all
those “one days” that brought you to where you are now.
A slight change on one of those days could have altered everything.

Go check out Fall Fearless and Fly.
There are lots of entries already for this 2-week challenge.

I don't often enter two challenges with one painting.
And I never enter Inspiration Avenue's weekly challenge
on the first day. I'm just not organized or quick enough.
Especially when it is my own theme.
For some reason, I usually find my own challenges hardest.

But. This week I chose
  O R A N G E
as the theme, an easy one for me since I use orange a lot.
It might be my favorite color. If I had one :)
I'm hoping it's an easy one for everyone.
So go check out Inspiration Avenue too!
There's plenty of time to enter the Orange challenge over there.

A new challenge I just discovered directly due to the Orange theme:

Mandarin Orange Monday

Wishing you a super creative week!

  1. Oh Maggie - this is just beautiful. Thank you so much for participating in Fall Fearless, and it's so true that the day we are living today was part of our future just yesterday. Love your interpretation of this. And I have to tell you that so many people admired my travel journal at "Art is You!" Of course, I let them know where I got it! xo

  2. This is beautiful!! I love your own interpretation of the prompts!!! Beautiful written message, and so true. One decision can change everything. Kath

  3. This is so lovely and inspiring, especially the way you've rewritten the quote in your own words and that wonderful face. I read it as a little unsure, but looking forward anyway.

  4. Love this piece! So warm and comforting... and wise...

  5. She looks very wistful. Lovely picture. Is she considering her future or rememberin the past?

  6. All of those 'one days' and 'one of those days'...
they are all important and all perfect...if I could
just remember that when it's 'one of those days'
I love your orange themed you glad I didn't say banana?
Sorry...must be the gray, gray days we've been having.

  21. Love this Maggie!! Your art work is stunning as always & so rich in textural detail. And the words are a wonderful reminder to live in the present & realise the importance of living each day fully. Fab. I think this would make a great inspirational gift.

For the first time in weeks I joined in with the IA challenge. I should have guessed it was you who was inspiring me this week- thank you :-)

    Kat Xx

  22. Wonderful piece. I enjoyed the Orange challenge, so appropriate for October when there is so much orange around us.

  23. She is beautiful, Magpie. I love the finch standing over her too. Blessings!

  24. This is wonderful Maggie. The quote you invented is awesome. I think your bird and girl are fantastic-A perfect image for both challenges.

I wish I could join your orange challenge with my PHONE MOI tags. The orange on them is more like rust, but since it's part of my own hosted challenge, I think I'll wait until next week. :(

Off to check Fall Fearless and Fly. What a great title.
    Much love,

  26. Okay, I found something to link after all without having to link my current party. Love this color too much to miss it. ;)
