29 Faces
February 27 - 29

Last day! Which happens to be Leap Day.

Here are my last 3 faces for 29 Faces.

A bit sketchy, but frankly it's all I've got for these last faces.

It's the first time I've made it through the entire month,
so something additional to be happy about!

Have a great week!

29 Faces
February 23 - 26

Today I'm posting 4 more faces,
all are works in progress.
I was surprised to find that I had
4 paintings unfinished . . . it's kind of like
"out of sight, out of mind"!
This will inspire me to work on them all.

February 23:

I saw a photo like this in a magazine and I really loved
the girl's fearful expression and the movement in the
photo, like she was going to start to run at any moment,
or had paused in the act of running.

This is the whole painting, I think it's acrylic on watercolor paper:

February 24:

The whole painting, still a ways to go:

February 25:

One of my favorite subjects, Marie Antoinette, or a representation of her.

I'm noticing that many of my paintings
of women and children also include an animal . . .

February 26:

Lots to do on this one;
I would like to tone it down a bit
and make the elements look like they belong together.

Coming to the end of 29 Faces!
Since it's a leap year, I'll have a chance to post
my last 3 faces tomorrow.

29 Faces
February 21 -22

Two more faces!
I think I only had 2 posts for the entire 2015 year.
I must be making up for lost time in 2016
and vowing to do better! Thank you Ayala and 29 Faces!

These journal pages were both inspired by Mindy Lacefield.
I love her classes . . . I was either taking
True Free Spirit or Paint Your Story when I did these pages.

and Paint Party Friday

One more face for February.
I'm pretty bad at math, but I can see
I have 9 more faces to do in 3 more days.
And that would be 3 a day or some combination thereof.
(Thankful it's Leap Year)
I WILL do it, because I've come this far.
It helps that I love to paint faces.
I decided to do this one on a book page.
This is very old paper from a book of
Shakespeare plays (Merry Wives of Windsor).
So fragile, I doubt if it will last long . . .
It's done in gouache; I'm surprised it held up to the water.
But it did!

29 Faces
February 7 - 8

Two faces this time....catching up!

February 7:

A work in progress, little girl with her bunny.

I painted this over an existing piece;
a lot of the texture is from the previous painting.

Maybe too much texture for a sweet lil girl...
We'll see how she progresses...

And a mermaid, an ATC

29 Faces is back for 2016!

It's been quite a while since I've participated in 29 Faces.

But it's a new year, it's February (goodbye January, I won't miss you),

and I'm going to make an effort to do this everyday.

I know it's Feb. 2nd already and only my first post.

But my painting has two faces, Hansel and Gretel

beholding the cottage of the wicked witch.

February 2:

Hansel and Gretel

By this time, the pair have had such astonishingly bad things happen to them that

they are a bit apprehensive of this yummy sugar-encrusted cottage.

I painted this for Joynal, a fabulous class taught by Jane Davenport.

I'm posting one more face for

February 1:

Autumn Fairy

This is the cover of my Joynal journal.

Have a happy February! I hope Spring is right around the corner

for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.

Everyone else, enjoy a lovely Autumn!
