Diva
The topic at Inspiration Avenue this week:
Diva
Brought to us by Hettienne of Her Grace.
An exciting theme!
I set out to draw what I think of as a Diva,
a woman
spoiled
fashionable
wealthy
having a certain grace
plus an adoring entourage
and unapproachable by mere mortals!
After I'd finished her, I realized my diva was none other than
that goddess from my childhood days, the girl/woman
who still resides in girlish bedrooms today:
None other than . . .
If they were not covered by that flowing evening gown,
you would see her feet are molded permanently
into the shape of stiletto heels.
I don't know if Barbie ever had the hairstyle above,
but she looks remarkably similar to my bubble-haired redhead Barbie
after my little brother got hold of her.
Okay, now I'm dating myself :)
This was maybe 1964?
As I was looking for an image of my
bubble haired Barbie,
I had to laugh when I found a pic
of Barbie's bathroom scale:
Set permanently at 110 pounds :)
One thing that has held true:
After all these years, Barbie has never ever gained a pound!
Just like a true diva.
Visit Inspiration Avenue this week to see
the wonderful Diva entries.
Stop back to IA on Sunday and they
will be displayed all together in our art gallery.

DIVINE, DAHLING!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your diva- her hair is awesome!
ReplyDeleteBarbie as the original diva--I like it. And that is too funny about the bathroom scale.
ReplyDeleteHa ha oh yes, she is a bit like Barbie isn't she? It's the hair and that impossible waist!! She's beautiful and dramatic, I love the red tresses too! x
ReplyDeleteDIVA...indeed!!! :) Well done!
ReplyDeleteI never had a Barbie, nor did I ever know much about her. But I sure love your interpretation of her AND your Diva entry. I was quite impressed by the hair, and of course, that figure. I'm still laughing at this wonderfully written and designed IA entry.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Barbie! such a diva!!! what a magical post!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE YOUR DIVA!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great image. So Divaish!
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw your image, she reminded me of Lucille Ball! I had that very same Barbie--thanks for the blast from the past!
